The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to four countries from 1990 to 2012

The line graph illustrates the proportion of Australian exports to four countries over 12 years. Overall, while Japan was the largest importer of Australian goods, for most of the period, exports to China grew significantly, so much so that it became the largest one among the four countries. In 1990, the proportion of Australian exports to Japan underwent a minimal decrease. China, on the other hand, started with one of the lowest export shares, approximately 3%. However, the figure for exports from Australia to China witnessed a significant increase, particularly accelerating in the second half of the period. By the end of the period, China had surpassed Japan, closing at just over 25%, the highest on the chart, starting at 12%. The percentage of Australian exports to USA decreased to 8% in 1995. Despite a significant increase from 8% to 14% in 2000, the exports dropped significantly 4% by the end of the year. There was a notable improvement by 2005, after a dramatic rise to 9% in 2010.
