Your figures, checked against the chart
Without the image, a checker can judge your English but not your numbers. With it, Axiom reads the chart first — its categories, values and trends — and scores your report against what the chart actually shows.
- Paste the question and your report.
- Add the image: a bar chart, line graph, pie chart, table, map, plan or process diagram, as a PNG, JPEG or WebP of up to 5 MB.
- Axiom reads the facts, then marks your report on the four criteria, with revisions for your own sentences.
Many often-set Task 1 charts are already known to Axiom, so their facts are ready even if you skip the upload.
How a Task 1 answer is scored
The same four criteria as Task 2 essays, with Task Achievement in place of Task Response.
- Task Achievement
- Whether your report gives a clear overview, picks out the key features, and reports the figures accurately. For a letter: whether you cover every bullet point in a tone that fits the reader.
- Coherence and Cohesion
- How you group the information and move from one point to the next.
- Lexical Resource
- The words you choose to describe trends, compare figures and explain a process.
- Grammatical Range and Accuracy
- The variety and correctness of your sentences, including comparisons and passive forms.
A live word count shows the 150-word target as you write.
Questions
Which tasks can Axiom check?
Writing Task 1 and Task 2, for both Academic and General Training. For Academic Task 1 you can upload the chart, map or diagram; General Training letters are scored on the same four criteria.

How long does a check take?
You can watch each step while Axiom reads your essay, scores the four criteria and saves the report. If you close the page, marking carries on and the report appears in Your reports.
