How Axiom checks IELTS Writing

Axiom is an AI IELTS Writing checker for Task 1 and Task 2, for Academic and General Training. Each report gives an estimated band for all four criteria, with sentence-level revisions and the reason for each change.

Scores are AI estimates, not official IELTS results.

Explore the IELTS Writing Task 2 checker
Task Achievement or Task Response
How fully you answer the question: your position in Task 2, your overview and key figures in Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion
How your ideas are ordered into paragraphs and linked to each other.
Lexical Resource
The range and precision of your vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy
The variety of your sentence structures, and how many of them are free of errors.

Task 1: your report, checked against the chart

For Academic Task 1, add the chart so Axiom can check your figures against its facts. General Training letters are also checked on the four IELTS criteria.

  1. Paste the question and your answer.

Use your Academic report or General Training letter.

  2. Add the chart, map or diagram.

A PNG, JPEG or WebP image of up to 5 MB. Uploading is optional: many often-set charts are already known to Axiom.

  3. Read feedback grounded in the chart.

Axiom reads the chart’s facts first, then scores your report against them on the four criteria.

Frequently asked questions

Is Axiom’s band the same as an IELTS result?

No. Axiom’s bands are AI estimates on the four criteria IELTS examiners use: Task Achievement or Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Only an IELTS test awards a real band. Use the estimate to see where your writing loses marks and what to change.

Can I try Axiom for free?

Yes. Sign up with your Uzbek phone number and you get 3 free checks to use within 7 days.

Which tasks can Axiom check?

Writing Task 1 and Task 2, for both Academic and General Training. For Academic Task 1 you can upload the chart, map or diagram; General Training letters are scored on the same four criteria.

What do I get besides the band?

Each criterion comes with an explanation of its band. Axiom quotes sentences from your essay, shows a revised version and explains the change, and adds suggestions for the task and for how your ideas connect. You can download the report as a PDF.
